Riyadh, 04 September 2025- Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has announced a landmark expansion of Red Sea International Airport’s (RSI) global reach. Qatar Airways, the World’s Best Airline as voted by Skytrax 2025, will operate direct flights to RSI, connecting it to Hamad International Airport (DOH), a multiple-award winning hub which can accommodate over 65 million passengers annually.

With tickets now available to book through qatarairways.com or the airline’s mobile application, Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight will depart from DOH on Tuesday 21 October 2025. The service will run three times per week, giving guests, residents, local communities, and business travelers seamless access to The Red Sea and surrounding areas through the airline’s global network of over 170 destinations across six continents.

“The launch of these new flights with Qatar Airways is a significant step in our journey to establishing The Red Sea as a premier luxury destination on the world stage. As we continue to open more hotels and attractions, this route makes it easier than ever for travelers to experience unparalleled luxury, explore the rich local Saudi culture, and learn about our pioneering regenerative tourism approach,”
said John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “Qatar Airways’ addition of The Red Sea route to our global network is yet another example of our dedication to providing diverse destinations that the decerning global traveler demands. The Red Sea – our 12th destination in the Kingdom – offers a wide range of distinct and enriching Middle East experiences. With this announcement, they are now accessible with the World’s Best Airline through our award-winning hub – Hamad International Airport.”

Flights arrive and depart every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday:

• Doha (DOH) to The Red Sea (RSI) – Flight QR1226: Departure 07:45; Arrival 10:45
• The Red Sea (RSI) to Doha (DOH) – Flight QR1227: Departure 11:45; Arrival 14:15

daa International has been the operator of RSI since it opened in 2023 and played an instrumental role in securing this new partnership.

Once fully complete later this year, RSI will run entirely on renewable energy sourced from the destination's more than 760,000 solar panels and one of the world's largest battery storage facilities.

The Red Sea destination, a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, now counts five luxury hotels that are open and welcoming guests. This includes Six Senses Southern Dunes, St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and RSG’s self-operated resorts Shebara and Desert Rock.

This year Shura Island, the heart of The Red Sea, will begin opening the first of its 11 resorts, as well as Shura Links, an 18-hole championship golf course, plus F&B and retail, signature experiences and cultural programming.
