- The agreement enhances coordination and aligns security strategies across Red Sea Global’s destinations
Riyadh, 10 Apr 2026 – Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Interior at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Kathiri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Capabilities, and John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global.
The agreement aims to strengthen coordination between both parties and enhance safety and security requirements across Red Sea Global’s destinations.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to delivering not only world-class destinations, but also the highest standards of safety and security. By working closely with the Ministry of Interior, we are ensuring that our destinations are supported by robust, future-ready security frameworks, while preserving the unique nature of our environments.”,
Under the MoU, both entities will collaborate to align security frameworks, assess requirements, and support the implementation of integrated security systems in line with national standards.
Eng. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Kathiri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Capabilities said: “This Memorandum of Understanding reinforces our commitment to supporting strategic national projects by providing advanced security systems and integrated operational frameworks. Through this collaboration, we aim to ensure a safe and secure environment that aligns with the Kingdom’s vision for world-class tourism destinations.”
The Red Sea destination now counts nine luxury hotels that are open and welcoming guests, as well as Thuwal Private Retreat off the coast of Jeddah. RSG recently announced the highly anticipated launch of AMAALA Triple Bay, which will see the debut of six world-class luxury resorts initially, as well as a yacht club, marine life institute, state-of-the-art marina and bustling Marina Village over the coming months.
The Red Sea will now receive an annual audit. If it can demonstrate continual improvement for the next 10 years, it will be designated as a Platinum Certified destination – an accolade that has only ever been achieved by two destinations globally.
RSG welcomed its first guests to The Red Sea in 2023 and now operates 10 resorts, as well as Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which receives regular flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Milan, Dubai, and Doha. This year, Shura Island, the heart of The Red Sea, is opening its first resorts, as well as Shura Links, an 18-hole championship golf course.
