Red Sea Global to begin filming time lapse footage of new destination

EarthCam systems will document construction progress across the 28,000km2 destination

Red Sea Global RSG (formerly known as TRSDC), the developer behind one of the world’s most ambitious tourism projects, has awarded a contract for a time-lapse photography system to document the construction progress at the destination.

After a competitive tender, a contract was awarded to EarthCam for the provision of a turnkey solution covering 13 different locations including onshore and offshore locations around the destination site.

“Time-lapse videos and photographs are essential to tell the story of the construction development, provide project documentation and remotely monitor and archive construction progress at the destination,” said John Pagano, CEO at The Red Sea Development Company. “We selected EarthCam based on their global experience and proven track record in delivering quality images and video, plus the commitment made to setup the systems in record time.”

“EarthCam specializes in producing top-quality time-lapse content which has the power to immerse viewers in a location despite being potentially thousands of miles away,” said Brian Cury, Founder and CEO, at EarthCam. “Our passion is for sharing the best sights the world has to offer with people around the globe who might ordinarily not have access to them.”

“Our technology is already filming a number of prestigious sites around the world from Times Square, New York to city street views in Dublin and Prague, and we have deep experience in filming construction time lapse which makes us the natural partner for this project,” added Cury.

EarthCam will deploy the latest advanced technology, to create a completely independent system at each location. These systems will enable remote viewing on PC and smart phone, providing live video footage in addition to image updates every 30 minutes.

“Filming will cover the full duration of the construction of each asset, starting prior to commencement, to capture and share the full development process with our investors, operators and other interested parties. The footage obtained will also help us ensure our worksite safety standards are being maintained,” said Ian Williamson, Chief Project Delivery Officer at The Red Sea Development Company.

EarthCam will provide monthly time lapse video for each of the islands under development for the first phase of the Project, along with inland construction at our Airport, Southern Dunes and Desert Rock resorts, our management and construction villages, and at the crossing to the hub island..

The Red Sea Project will welcome its first guests by the end of 2022. The first phase of the development will include 14 luxury hotels offering 3,000 rooms across five islands and two inland locations. It will also include entertainment facilities, an airport, and the necessary supporting logistics and utilities infrastructure. Work is already underway at the destination with the development of key supporting infrastructure and accommodation for the workforce and company employees deployed to manage construction.
